The last time I was in Gstaad was in the summer of 2001. Back then I was doing research for a novel (“Gstaad 95-98”) and I was traveling with my friend Elayne. A few months later she would become my fiancée.
In 2001 the guests at Gstaad Palace hotel were confused if Elayne was my mother or my mistress.
Elayne passed away in the summer of 2005.
Seven years after my last visit I returned to Gstaad and the Palace Hotel.
I’m afraid nobody will mistake my current companion for my mother.
