After the Verwey Reading on Thursday night a man in his fifties approached me. He commented on the reading and asked me to sign one of my novels for him. While he was already walking away he said to me: “I’m the father of X.” X being a girl with whom I had a short affair. We lost all contact. The last time I heard from X was when she sent me an e-mail to inform me that she was pregnant.
It puzzled me why this man wanted to inform me that he is the father of X.
